Goblin Grand Prix: privacy policy

Last updated: 2 November 2026

Goblin Grand Prix ("the game") is made by dhai. This policy covers the Android app no.dhai.goblingp.

The short version

During the playtest the game sends anonymous play data to our server (goblingp.com): which races you play, how they go, how fast the game runs on your phone, and errors. It is tied to a random id made by the game, not to you: no name, no email, no phone identifiers, no location. You can turn it off in Settings. The game has no accounts, no ads and no in-app purchases, and we never share or sell the data. (The website also has an optional playtest sign-up; see below.)

Playtest data (telemetry)

Why: to see what players play, where they get stuck or fall off, what breaks, and how well the game runs on different phones, so we can fix and balance it.

What is sent:

How: events are stored on your phone (at most 2 MB) and sent in small batches over HTTPS when there is an internet connection, so races without internet are sent later. Our server does not store your IP address (it is used briefly, in memory only, to block abuse).

Where and how long: on our own server in Germany, for at most 180 days, then deleted. Only the developer can read it. It is not shared, sold, or used for ads.

Turning it off: Settings › Share playtest data › OFF. The game then sends nothing and deletes any data it was still holding on the phone. The game also shows a notice about this the first time it starts.

Deleting your data: your install id is shown in Settings under "Share playtest data". Send it to us with the contact form at https://goblingp.com/#contact and we delete everything stored for it. Uninstalling the game deletes the id from your phone.

The website (goblingp.com)

If you sign up for the playtest on goblingp.com, we store the email address and the optional name you type in. We use them only to invite you to the Google Play test and to tell you about the playtest. They are kept on our own server, are never shared or sold, and are not linked to the game. To be removed from the list, send a removal request through the contact form on goblingp.com. The website itself uses no cookies, analytics or trackers.

What stays on your phone

The game saves these on your device, in its private app storage: your settings, your progress and best times, your Dungeon Master career, the player name you choose, and (if you host races) the hotspot name and password you type in, which the game uses only to draw the "join my Wi-Fi" QR code on your screen. We never see any of it. Uninstalling the game deletes it all.

Local multiplayer

When you host or join a race, the game talks directly to the other players' phones on the same Wi-Fi network or phone hotspot. To make that work it sends, over that local network only:

This traffic stays on your local network, is not encrypted, and ends when the race ends. Only play on networks you trust, and choose a player name you're happy for the people in the room to see.

Permissions

The game asks for network access (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE) and the multicast permission (CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE) so phones can find each other on the local network. INTERNET is also used to upload the playtest data described above (unless you turn it off). It does not ask for your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or files.

Children

The game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, of any age. The playtest data above is anonymous.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Questions: use the contact form at https://goblingp.com/#contact.
